Finally got my old Nokia 6230i unlocked, and its now the home of my Singapore number with StarHub, which means those of you in Singapore can call / txt me on that number. If you call me and it cuts off mid-conversation it will be due to running out of credit (as its roaming in UK) But I’ll call you back from the UK number until I get a top-up. Just another note, my Japanese number was a rental phone, so don’t call that any more as its probably with someone else now!

Back to work and visiting the family…
First week back at work over, I left on the Friday and spent the weekend with my parents, after a month away and a week or so either side of the holiday its been some time since I been up there. I also needed to continue the mammoth task of sorting out my stuff which has been stored there since I finished Uni back in 2004. Its incredible, the amount of crap I managed to collect, mainly computer junk which was used, or intended to be used while studying.
Back then some of those things were like gold dust, so rare, so unique, and on student money worth a fortune. In reality, its nearly all just junk, and especially now after so long, totally out of date and useless. I know some of my ex-class mates will hate the idea of getting rid of it, but its just not practical, and its all in aid of my latest “dream”, part of which involves moving abroad, and therefore means having to reduce the amount of stuff I have – and I have a lot of stuff, way too much, no matter how much I get rid of, more just seems to appear.
Besides, I’ve never been a geek – I studied computer networking, and I work in IT, but I cant be involved with it 24/7, computers annoy the hell out of me, the dents in my desktop pc case will testify to that, when it really plays up it gets a hell of a kicking. There stressful, “fun” is not something to be associated with them. So why do I do it? Because I’m good at it, and its just been what I have been doing since college. Computers are not my life, there just in it.
What I love is travel, seeing the world, new places, meeting new people, doing different things, just spending time with friends. I love music, and even play the guitar really really badly, but that doesn’t matter, its making the sound yourself, putting the feeling and emotion into what your playing (or trying to) and just enjoying that, and also photography – as this blog shows, quite a bit is travel photography, which brings me back to the main point, you cant travel with a tons and tons of junk weighing you down. Just now I wish I hadn’t got quite so much stuff!
Here is a picture of my metallic blue Yamaha Pacifica, I love this guitar, one of my favourite possessions.
Quick Note – Photos
Just wanted to add a note on about the photos – or the lack of – the Hotel internet connections were not working too well with picture uploads – I will go back and edit the posts to add in the photos later. Have quite a few to add in so might take a day or 2.
All the photos have been done for the Asia Mini Tour.
Ok – now done all the photos except for Takayama. Still trying to choose a sensible number of good ones to add on here.
Finally can start posting new stuff again now.
Asia Tour – Return to London
Jan 13th. Finally the day I had been dreading since the start of the trip – the return ‘home’. Early start, skipped the hotel breakfast again, didn’t want to risk any problems with a 12 hour flight. I actually missed the Airport bus I had booked the previous day by about 2 minutes, but it was only an hour to the next one and I was already earlier than I needed to be. Had a light snack and tea in the hotel coffee shop during the wait. The airport was good, nothing of real interest to report although I didn’t bother to look around. The flight on BA08 was scheduled on time, however we got stuck on the taxi way for about a 30 minute delay. The flight was good, got a little bumpy at London, and good old Heathrow added in a nice 30 minute delay as usual – this time due to wind. Then had a nice 1 hour bus trip to Walton-On-Thames and got a Taxi from there – in total bus and taxi cost was £14. Quote from 2 taxis at the airport – £60. The hour bus trip was worth it.
Btw – its really freezing, Tokyo was warmer and less windy, even that day in Akihabara was not as cold as it was in my flat – 1 month away, not really surprising its going to be cold in there tho. Now its back to ‘Real Life’ and back to work. I really dont want to. I want to be back in Singapore with my friends already, and I havn’t had a single day back at work yet. Its raining right now (Jan 14th), which just adds to how miserable the UK appears right now.
